The Unity Flight in Plettenburg Bay

Dear Friend,

Day 2 of the inaugural UNITY FLIGHT OF SOUTH AFRICA of British Pilot
Robert Vallier's Ufosa Foundation found him and the Team in Plettenburg Bay.

Robert journeyed to Plettenburg and first visited the Wittedrift High School.  He was invited to address the upper children at Assembly...

... and then moved on to the welcome from the Primary School...

Consolidation of the visit came when Robert presented Headmaster Andre Bouwer with a copy of the first book for the 1,000-book Library which the Foundation is seeking to install into the School.  The Team then inspected the area where the new room for the Library is to be built.

Moving on from the School, Robert went to the township area of Kwanokuthula, where the Masizame Children's Centre cares for orphans and children who have suffered abuse.  The Centre sends a van daily into the settlement and collects the children, returning them at the end of the day.

Robert watches on as the Masizame staff pick up the day children at Kwanokuthula settlement at Plettenburg Bay.

And in a special moment, Robert was permitted to go into the home of one of the families in the township... comprised of only two rooms.

It is often the case that young children are looked after by their grandparents, particularly the grandmothers - known as Gogos.  The reason for this is that HIV Aids has taken the lives of so many parents, and their children have no-one else to care for them.

The Ufosa Foundation's own Watch Centre for abused Women And The CHildren is a prime directive of the organisation, and assisting and working with the Masizame Children's Home will enable similar goals to be met in the area.

With the formal accepting of the Masizame group and the Wittedrift School into the Foundation's programme, Robert said his farewell and moved on to the next community - Port Elizabeth.

The Ufosa Foundation's inaugural UNITY FLIGHT OF SOUTH AFRICA launched on 1 October and runs through to 30 October. Our National charity is reaching out to 30 communities throughout South Africa, with a 5-year schedule to bring help in Education, Family Wellbeing and Health.
