British Pilot In the first UNITY FLIGHT we visited 15 of our 30 communities. UF#2 is set for 2008. "We want to help people from all over South Africa and from a wide spectrum, of varied ages and circumstances," says Vallier. "Assisting young people as they start their journey of life, and the wellbeing of the family as the basis of our civilisation, are important, just as it is to assist others when they fall ill or are coming to the end of their life's journey. It's all a part of the unity of living." Why 30 communities? The answer is simple. It has been said that the Soweto Riots of 16 June 1976 marked the beginning of the end of the apartheid era of South Africa. Through immense patience, sacrifice and courage the South African people have moved into a new era, of co-operation and harmony. In 2006, 30 years on from the Soweto riots, the planning for The Ufosa Foundation began. Robert Vallier planned the concept to focus on and assist 30 communities across the country on an ongoing basis, actioned annually through the UNITY FLIGHT OF SOUTH AFRICA - a regular and high-profile major event nationwide symbolising that Unity of the South African people, as with all people around the world, remains the way of the future. Although South Africa is developing successfully, and has been welcomed back into the international community with open arms, the country faces immense problems for its people. These include the education of millions of underprivileged children and young people, while the abuse of women and children in domestic violence within the family is at high levels. AIDS remains a massive problem and even when people are dying, their level of care and comfort is often nominal. The Ufosa Foundation's UNITY FLIGHT OF SOUTH AFRICA.
