 The Walk  1
TTS Walk - The Route 2010

THE WALK ROUTE- The 350-mile fundraiser walk for Ufosa and Touch The Sky made by Robert Vallier lasted over 35 days, in Aug-Sep 2010.

Well why would anyone want to walk 350 miles from Sussex to Snowdon anyway?!

Of course - you have to have a reason for doing it!

Robert Vallier says, “Well Snowdon is the highest peak in the UK other than Ben Nevis - and I didn’t think I could make it to there yet!

"So it’s the highest point I could reach in the country and touch the skies... before I would have to get into an aircraft to go higher.

"And we were able to give some fun in the air above the local airports to those kids who would love to fly yet who - because of the tragic cards life has dealt them - never will be able to.”

The Walk - Tatiana

Day 1: Ufosa's Tatiana joins Robert for the first day.  It poured with rain.

British Pilot and Ufosa Foundation Founder Robert  Vallier made his 350-mile walk to launch Ufosa’s Touch The Sky - our flagship UK Programme which helps to lift the spirits of seriously unwell, disabled and terminally ill children and young people and their families.

Some of the children Ufosa helped won’t live to reach their 20th birthday.

Caring for a loved one can be very stressful and debilitating, and Ufosa’s Touch The Sky brings some much-needed fun respite for all the family by taking them up into the air on free flights in a light aircraft - a great day spent together, giving treasured memories.

The Walk - Day 3

Day 3: That's a bit better.  Clear skies, a chance to dry out, and enjoy a banana.

And, what young person hasn’t wanted to fly?!

As a life-time sufferer of Asthma, which he has had since childhood, training and the Walk itself were a huge challenge.

“Running and cycling are difficult for me, but steady walking I can manage,” he says.

The walk lasted for 35 days - 29 days walking, 6 days flying, 350 miles on Robert’s feet, took up numerous pairs of socks, used (sadly) zero wine, and involved blisters, bruises, aches, ice packs and painkillers, and a great deal of determination.
