In our great Walk To Read!
event, our President Robert Vallier will be making a 1,650KM (1,020 MILE) WALK to
raise awareness of the importance in education of reading and the need for books and School
Libraries for the children and young people of South Africa - and to put 1,000-book
Ufosa Libraries into 100
Schools!
Robert’s gruelling endeavour will start in Cape Town
in September 2012, route through Bloemfontein and Jo'burg and end in Pretoria
in Dec. School children and teachers can also take part in Walk To Read!, and walk along sections of the route. Robert aims to
present a Personal Letter to the Government, on behalf of Ufosa and the children and Schools of South Africa. Learn how
you can assist and be part of this Great Event!

Walk To Read!

In our
Education
Programme, of which Walk To Read is part, we place a 1,000-book reading Library into schools,
starting with each of the first 15 Schools in our Programme.
Books are donated to
Ufosa
(UK) by school children, libraries and
publishers in the UK and then our Sponsors BRITISH AIRWAYS fly them to South
Africa, where Ufosa
(SA) stores them.
We then distribute them personally to our
selected schools. So far our
Ufosa
Libraries have impacted on and helped over 5,500 needy
children (and we need more Books so please keep the
donations coming!). Read

British Pilot ROBERT VALLIER flew 2,500
miles in a Cessna 182 light aircraft in the first South Africa Unity Flight, to launch
the Ufosa
Foundation in South
Africa.
We wanted to establish links first hand
with the initial 15 of our chosen 30 Communities spread all
over South Africa and their various Schools and Health Organisations. So we know
personally about their difficulties and what
Ufosa
can do to help them.
And we’ve been
working hard to assist ever since, with the help of our many Sponsors both in the UK and in South
Africa. We’ve had great support from the public and the media too...
